A postmaster has been tied up and assaulted during a robbery in Droylsden, Greater Manchester, police said.

The 29-year-old victim was attacked as he opened up his post office on Greenside Lane at 8.50am on Monday. A substantial amount of cash was taken during the incident.

The man required hospital treatment for a head injury but has since been discharged.

Two men, aged 21 and 23, have been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery.

Police are appealing for witnesses.
