A BUS driver has been charged with causing the death by dangerous driving of an elderly woman, police said today.

Carl Enion, 21, of Linden Crescent, Tottington, Bury, is due to appear before magistrates in the town on July 16.

Police were called to Bolton Road's junction with Mile Lane in Radcliffe, near Bury, on January 15 after the bus was in collision with Alice Barlow, 85.

Mrs Barlow, of Harrogate Square, Bury, was trapped under the bus and pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said Mr Enion was charged last night with one count of causing death by dangerous driving and released on bail.
