Two neighbouring companies at Manchester Science Parks Ltd have joined forces to create an innovative computer storage facility which already has plans to go national.
UK Grid Data Centres is the first joint venture company at the park, formed by internet service provider The UK Grid Network Ltd and Manchester Electrical Contractors.
Their new company provides a secure facility where busineses can store computer systems and associated components, such as servers.
That offers a cost effective solution to storing bulky technical equipment on-site.
The consortium has been in operation for less than a year, but is already reaping the rewards for exploiting a gap in the local market. And it hopes to be securing more prestigious deals in the very near future.
Director Rob Garbutt, who has more than ten years experience in the data centre industry, said: "We provide colocation and hosting for companies from small and medium enterprises to corporate. Interest is also being shown from a number of other high profile FTSE100 companies."
