POLICE tonight urged motorists to find alternative routes home after a police van collided with a car on Carrington Lane, Trafford.

The collision, at 4.45pm, led to road closures on Carrington Lane at the junction with Banky Lane and on the Carrington Spur - the main road onto the M60 motorway.

A spokesman urged motorists to find alternative routes. It was unclear whether anyone was injured.

How is the innocent driver the police van colided with? How is the officers arm that got trapped? Was it the police vans fault,speeding round that bend ? will we ever know ?

I was affected by this trying to get to Carrington. The road was still closed 3 hours later and helicopter etc was above it. Was it serious or was it just overreaction by the police cos one of their vehicles was involved?

when a van ends up on its side trapping a person by their arm its always serious, the driver of the other vehicle i beleive are ok, however 1 of the officers is still poorly the van was on an emergency call and accidents happen unfortunatley
