The Reds take on Chelsea in Moscow tonight in the first all-English Champions League Final. It marks the end of an emotional season which has marked the 50th anniversary of the Munich air disaster.
Five survivors of the Munich tragedy - Sir Bobby Charlton, Albert Scanlon, Harry Gregg,
Bill Foulkes and Kenny Morgans - were invited by United to fly to Moscow on a private jet.
Manager Sir Alex Ferguson said the presence of survivors from the tragedy at the game would add real poignancy to the occasion.
He said: "We are proud to have followed in those footsteps. There's no doubt in my mind that the real start of this great club was Sir Matt (Busby). It was ironic that it was Chelsea who should have been England's first entry to the European Cup but the FA didn't want them to go in.
"But Sir Matt had the courage and the vision and you've seen where English football has progressed because of that, so I'm proud of that history and we won't let them down."
Supporters arriving in Moscow's Red Square yesterday unfurled a giant banner with the message: "For the Babes, MUFC, Moscow 2008."
Sir Bobby Charlton said: "There is a bit of emotion for Manchester United actually being in the Champions League Final on the 50th anniversary of when those players died going into Europe, because it was those players pioneering the actual competition that got things going."
He said that a win for United would be the `perfect' end to a poignant season at Old Trafford.

Not forgetting is not riding on the back of Munich. Those who perished will not, and should not, be forgotten.
Forever Remembered.

Thus I hope United stuff the pants off Chelsea tonight. What an achievement that would be.
As for City fans supporting Chelsea tonight, absolute SHAME on you. Call yourselves Mancunian? A victory tonight would be a great night for this city, if Man City fans don't like that they really should take their bitterness down South where it belongs.

As for comments about Man U riding on the back of the Munich disaster, i think they are disgusting! A tragedy like that should be remembered for ever.

But neither should the tragedy at Munich be constantly wheeled out every 10 years and used a a "lever" to gain extra support from the neutrals whenever United need to win a "big" match.

and although im a blue sometimes you have to let things go, united have made enough money out of the tragedy they have to learn not every football fan in the country is bothered about what happened 50 yrs ago,
