Breakfast with Gers fans

Breakfast in Burnage
THOUSANDS of Rangers fans have set up camp in Stockport.

Early today they were in buoyant mood after spending the night in tents, cars and vans at Burnage Rugby Club, Heaton Mersey.

The rugby club grounds were a sea of blue as many supporters basking in the sunshine enjoyed a beer with their breakfast.

Stuart McKenzie, 42, from Glasgow, said: "It's been absolutely brilliant and the local people have been great.

"Let's just say we arrived last night in a good mood and we were unable to put our tent up - but that doesn't matter 'cos we're having a great time."

William Wallace, 50, from Glasgow, who produced his bank card to prove that is his real name, said: "There's been a tremendous atmosphere here and we've been made to feel very welcome. Thank you to the people of Stockport and Manchester."

Jonny Barry, 52, from Ayrshire, said: "It's been wonderful here, great company and a great atmosphere. We're enjoying it and looking forward to the party after we win."

Fred Finnegan, 38, from Northern Ireland, said: "It's a good atmosphere and it's building up to something special. We've not been in to Manchester yet because we arrived at 5.30 this morning but we can't wait to get there."

Andy Green, general manager of the rugby club, said: "It's been a big party so far. It's been an unbelievable party and they've been partying all night long. They've been great and there's not been a hint of any trouble."

The man is clearly an impostor. William Wallace never had a bank card...

Why, when we are hearing about so called 'food miles', does nobody ever worry about 'football miles'?

How much fuel has been consumed and CO2 generated by the stupid idea of of a russian team playing a scottish team - in Manchester? Utter stupidity.
