MANCHESTER Airport workers held a marathon pasty-munching session for charity.

Sixteen teams of three battled to get through six `tiddy oggies' - Cornish slang for pasties - in the fastest time.

The winners from electrical firm Inviron did it in 3mins 1sec - and owed their victory largely to Phil `Pieman' Kendal, who managed to gobble down three-and-a-half, leaving team mates Tony `Cruncher' Cunningham and Will `Monster Nosher' Haywood to clean up the rest.

Organisers at fire sprinkler company Lostock Installations say the event - which raised £800 for the airport's charity Childflight - started as `a bit of a joke' but could now become an annual event.
