LITTLE orphan Annie has brought a happy ending to a sad story down on the farm.
Last week, after a nine- month pregnancy in Cheshire's Tatton Park, Moomin the cow lost her calf at birth.
But her sadness was short lived when staff adopted an orphaned calf from a nearby farm for her to mother - and Moomin has taken to her.
Orphan Annie is a different breed from mum, which has caused one or two problems on Home Farm.
As a Dexter cow, Moomin is from a a small breed originating in Ireland known as the `cottager's cow'.
Annie is a beef shorthorn, with legs already almost as long as mum's, which has made it difficult for her to suckle.
Farm ranger Elly Birtles said: "Despite her size, Moomin is a little cow with a big character and is a natural mother."
