A ROCK band is dedicating the last concert of its British tour to murdered Sophie Lancaster.

Sophie, 20, was kicked and stamped to death in Stubbylee Park, Bacup, Lancashire, last August, because she was a Goth.

Local act Dear Superstar was so moved by her death, the band decided to use its Bacup gig to raise money for the SOPHIE (Stamp Out Prejudice, Hatred and Intolerance Everywhere) fund.

The fund was set up in memory of Sophie by her family and friends.

Dear Superstar lead singer Micky Satiar, who lives in Rawtenstall, said: "We found out about Sophie's death while we were touring Finland.

"We felt what happened was so horrendous and despicable that we had to do something to raise awareness and, hopefully, educate a few people out there.

"We are all from the area and we felt that a homecoming show in memory of Sophie and to raise money for the SOPHIE fund at the end of our first tour of 2008 would be perfect."

Brendan Harris, 15, was convicted of Sophie's murder last month, while Ryan Herbert, 16, admitted murdering her.

Harris and Herbert, along with three other teenage boys also admitted causing grievous bodily harm to Sophie's boyfriend Robert Maltby, 21, in the same incident. All five will be sentenced at Preston Crown Court on April 28.

Dear Superstar is made up of Micky Satiar, Amadeus Fontaine and Adam Smethurst, all of Rawtenstall, Benj Ashmead, of Haslingden, and Stew Milton, of Bury.

A website, dedicated to Sophie, myspace.com/inmemoryofsophie, has received nearly 50,000 hits.

Kate Conboy-Greenwood, who monitors the site, said: "The response has been amazing.

"There are people from all over the world that have left messages."

The Dear Superstar concert is on April 26 at Bacup Football Club. Tickets cost £3 on the door.
