A MAN has made three attempts to abduct children in the Stockport area.

Police have issued this efit of the suspect who has tried to snatch a girl and two boys in separate incidents.

The latest kidnap attempt was on Monday this week when an eight-year-old girl was walking along Langdale Road, Bramhall.

He tried to entice her into his light blue car, and when she refused to get in he said he knew her parents, but she ran off. The incident happened at about 5pm.

In the first incident, at about 3.30pm on Friday 14 March 2008, a man tried to entice an 11-year-old boy into his car. The victim had been walking home from school in Bredbury when a small dark blue car pulled up alongside him.

The driver asked him to get into his car, but the victim refused and ran home to his house on Sandiway.

A short time later at 4pm a man invited a 12-year-old boy into his car, but the victim refused.

Incident

This second incident happened close to Werneth School in Bredbury.

In the first incident the man was described as white, in his 20s or 30s, with short hair, wearing a red top, and possibly a baseball cap.

A vital clue is that the dark blue car may have had a green trailer attached at the back.

Detectives have now issued general safety advice to parents and children living in Stockport.

Detective Inspector James Ellson said: "We do not want to alarm people, but parents and children should be aware of some simple advice.

"We are asking them to take sensible precautions such as asking their children to go out in pairs if possible and reminding them that they should not talk to strangers and under no circumstances get into a stranger's car.

"We have now had a third incident which we believe could be linked to the previous two. We are very keen to trace this man to speak to him about what he was doing. We have increased patrols in the area, and I would reassure people that there is no need for panic.

"The description of the car and the trailer is quite unique, and there's a good chance somebody will be able to identify this man based on this. If you do know who this is, or if you have any information at all about these incidents, please call us."

Anyone with any information about these incidents is asked to contact police on 0161 856 9986 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
