ENGINEERS were today trying to fix a problem affecting BT's server which stopped customers' emails working, the company said.
A small number of customers using BT Yahoo! email accounts have been affected "for a couple of days", a spokesman said.
"We've got people fixing a problem for a small number of customers who use BT Yahoo!," he said. "The problem is quite small and is not affecting everyone. Some people's BT Yahoo! accounts are working and others are not."
The spokesman was not able to say when the problem is likely to be resolved.
BT joined forces with Yahoo! to provide the broadband service in 2003.

For half an hour today I managed to send and receive a couple of emails but now it is down again.

It involves changing the outgoing mail SMTP server from 'mail.btinternet.com' to 'smtp.mail.yahoo.com' which doesnt seem to do the verify bit and works a treat.
