A MAN is in a critical condition in hospital after a road traffic collision in Salford.

Police were called to Barton Lane in Salford after reports that three cars had collided near to the Ship Canal public house, at about 5.45pm on Saturday, March 15.

Officers attended and found three cars, a green Jeep Grand Cherokee, a white Rover and a black Vauxhall Corsa, had collided.

Two men who were passengers in the Jeep were taken to Hope Hospital to be treated for head injuries. One remains in a critical condition while the other is stable.

The drivers of the Rover and Corsa suffered minor injuries and were treated at the scene.

Road closures were put in place on Corporation Street and Barton Lane while officers made the road safe, but were lifted shortly afterwards.
