FIREFIGHTERS were called to rescue a dog stranded in four feet of water in Bury this morning.

Two crews from Heywood and Bury used a boat and a ladder to retrieve the animal from the River Irwell.

The incident took place at the Bridge Trading Estate on Bolton Road.
