A MAN has been released on bail after a motorcyclist was injured in a hit-and-run in Leigh.

The 26-year-old rider required hospital treatment for bruising following the collision with a Nissan Primera on Chapel Street at about 9pm on Friday.

The driver abandoned his car near the scene and fled on foot. A 48-year-old man, from Leigh, was arrested on suspicion of drink driving after officers searched the area.

He has been bailed until April 24.
