KNIFE-WIELDING robbers threatened to kill a young boy in front of his father before stealing the family car.
The terrified seven-year-old came out of his bedroom as his 34-year-old father, who does not want to be named, confronted a masked man brandishing a large knife on the stairs of their home in Ansdell Drive.
The man threatened to kill the boy if he did not get the keys to the £19,500 black Vauxhall Astra VXR. The raiders fled with the car keys, but returned moments later and forced the man outside at knifepoint after they were unable to start the car.
The man, who works as a site manager, said: "I was confronted by a lad on the stairs, wearing a ski mask and holding a big butcher-type knife and demanding my car keys. The guy shouted `throw me the car keys or I'll kill him'.
"With him threatening my son I just wanted to get him out the house. My wife and younger son were upstairs screaming."
Anyone with information about the incident, at 4am on Monday, should ring police on 0161 856 9255.

There is no way I am going to stand in between a knife and some metal, life is more important, and that's what insurance is for !!

I still can't understand why anyone would want a £19k+ car, let alone park it where people can identify you, you wouldn't wander round town late at night with your £300 mobile phone or ipod on show, yet people advertise their wealth on their driveways??? You can get a decent car for less than £3k, smaller engines cost lees & are not as attractive to thieves. Nobody really needs anything higher than a 1.4 engine anyway unless they plan on joyriding or using it for a quick getaway.

In reality the thugs should be caught and the key thrown away and never see day light again.
Oh! Of course human rights come into it not the fathers the knife wielding villains, the victims have no chance.
