THREE people were taken to hospital after kitchen fires today.

Firefighters arrived at the first fire in Kenyon Lane Prestwich at 3.45am.

A woman had managed to get out of the semi, but a man who was still inside the building had to be rescued by firefighters.

Both were taken to hospital for checks.

Later this morning at 6.52 fire crews were called out to another kitchen fire at a flat in The Boulevard in Hazel Grove.

One woman was rescued by firefighters and was taken to hospital suffering from the effects of smoke.
