ARMED robbers attacked a Securicor van before stealing cash from a building society.
The three thugs struck as Securicor parked up outside Nationwide, on George Street, Altrincham, at 8.50pm on Monday.
They attacked the accompanying surveillance van with an unknown weapon before forcing their way on to the premises and stealing four boxes with a substantial amount of cash inside.
A fourth offender, thought to be a look out, was seen at the junction of George Street and Shaw Road. A short time later, the occupant of a silver Volkswagen Golf, seen heading along Ashley Road and Hale Road towards the M56, threw a cash box lid from the car.
Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone saw the car being driven erratically in the area to contact them on 0161 856 7671 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.

Even if they got caught, which will never happen, but if they do, the soft and pathetic justice system will give them a slap on the rist and patronise the police. The police are tough on people like this, but the courts let them go within a matter of weeks.
