VANDALS have targeted the home of Manchester United chief executive David Gill.

Pictures sent to the M.E.N, from a group opposed to the takeover of the club by US tycoon Malcolm Glazer, show a number of slogans daubed in spray paint on a wall at Mr Gill's home near Altrincham.

They read 'LUHG' - Love United, Hate Glazer - 'Glazer Out' and 'Judas Gill'.

A Manchester United spokesman confirmed the incident late on Thursday. It has been reported to police, who have launched an investigation.

The spokesman said Mr Gill would not be commenting.

The vandalism attack comes as Manchester United revealed its best-ever turnover and profits.

Profits in the year to last June nearly doubled, soaring from £30.8m in 2006 to £59.6m, on the back of rocketing sponsorship, media and match day revenues - boosted by the extended Old Trafford capacity to 76,000.

Group turnover increased 27 per cent from £165m to £210m, while the gross figure, which includes sales from Nike merchandise and the TV station MUTV, was up 21 per cent to £245m - a record for any British club.
