The two youths knocked at the back door of the property on Sawston Walk in Moston, and told them that there were carol singers at the front of the house.
They then pushed their way inside as the 90-year old man and his 87 year old wife were distracted, stole the woman's purse, and ran off.
Detective Sergeant Jerry Pointon from Grey Mare Lane police station said: "These young people have preyed on a frail, elderly couple on Christmas Day of all days.
"It is absolutely despicable - there really is no limit to the depths that some people will sink and it sickens me to think of the effect their selfish and callous actions have had on these two innocent people who have been left shaken up and confused."
The incident happened at around 5pm on Christmas Day, and anyone with any information is asked to contact police on 0161 856 4026, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111. Tweet

My only comment is the "BIRCH" Surely people who complain about my views on the birch can see that the only way to control these "monsters" is to birch them.
