THE woman who became the "voice of the Tube" has been sacked after "slagging off" the Underground, it was revealed today.
Emma Clarke is the voice that Tube travellers hear warning them to "mind the gap".
But comments she made about the Tube have gone down badly with London Underground, which said today that it would not be offering her any more work.
Ms Clarke, a 36-year-old mother of two, from Altrincham, Cheshire, made the remarks after she produced a series of spoof announcements on her website.
She said she used to live in Highgate, north London, and took the Tube every day.
She said she did not use it any more because it was "dreadful".
In one spoof announcement, Ms Clarke, who has worked for the Underground since 1999, says: "We would like to remind our American tourist friends that you are almost certainly talking too loudly."
In another she said that the passenger pretending to read a paper but who was actually staring at a woman's chest should stop as he was was "not fooling anyone, you filthy pervert".
LU said: "Some of the spoof announcements are very funny. But Emma is a bit silly to go round slagging off her client's services.
"London Underground is sorry to have to announce that further contracts for Ms Clarke are experiencing severe delays."
Ms Clarke, who is a writer as well as a voice-over artist, told the Evening Standard: "I don't feel that I have been slagging them off - that was never my intention. It was just a bit of a laugh."
An LU spokesman said: "We won't be providing her with any more work. It's not because of the spoof announcements. It's because she has criticised the Underground system."
