FOUR children were among seven people injured after two family cars crashed in Salford.
A people carrier travelling along Regent Road towards Manchester collided with a Kia and then flipped onto its roof hitting steel barriers near a pedestrian crossing at the Regent Road junction with Oldfield Road at 6pm this evening.
All six occupants of the people carrier – a man, a woman and four children - were thrown from the vehicle as a result of the collision and all of them suffered injuries which required hospital treatment.
The most seriously hurt were one of the adults and a boy aged seven, who sustained a serious arm injury. The other occupants of the car – which included an 11-month-old baby – sustained minor injuries.
A child who was travelling in the Kia also suffered minor injuries in the collision and was treated in hospital.
The collision – outside Sainsbury’s supermarket – caused traffic chaos.
Motorists were urged by police to find alternative routes and the road was closed in both directions as a result.
An investigation was being launched today. Fire fighters were called to make the scene safe.
A police spokesman said: “One child and one adult were seriously injured. Five others received what are believed to be minor injuries. Investigations are underway.”

Given their response to the tram power cables being stolen and the train tracks being blocked, claiming this was evidence against promoting public transport no doubt they'll treat this equally acknowledging cars are also very unreliable.

What does it take for people to understand that you MUST restrain your children in a car?
