Blackout hits north Manchester

HUNDREDS of homes across Greater Manchester have been left in darkness after the power went out just after 7.30pm tonight.

The blackout hit most of North Manchester with reports that Prestwich, Clifton, Broughton Park and Crumpsall were affected. Homes in the city centre, Bury and Cheetham Hill were also hit.

A police spokesman said the power problem had also stretched as far as Wigan and Leigh.

One resident, from Clifton, said: “Coronation Street came on and the power went out.

“The whole estate, which has more than a hundred homes, was plunged into darkness.”

also affeced radcliffe, put the floodlights out at stainton park delaying the kick off for the cup game between FC United and Bamber Bridge HT 4-0 FC

Do we know what the cause was?

The cause was that arsonists broke into an electricity sub-station in the Miles Platting area of Manchester. It did not come back on for us till 9:00pm

answer, make the stations bomb proof, keep the pond life scum out, then find them, arrest their dumb parents who let them roam the streets totallly unaware of the damage, grafitti they cause, and then teach them how to be a good parent, not sitting there watching Corrie with half a pound of wacky backy 10 tins off cheap lager, and 60 fags! we are sick of anti social kids, far to may American influence on Tv also in my humble opinion. and I am a good parent with 2 well mannered, well behaved caring children!

My theory is that a UFO may have recharged itself by drawing power directly from a high voltage power line. The government do know about this, but they will hush it up as usual.
