A MUM-TO-BE was killed by the 'stupid and erratic' driving of a mystery motorist who forced her to crash on the M60.
Nicola Chambers 21, from Failsworth, died from head injuries when her black Ford Focus swerved into the central reservation, spun across the four-lane carriageway, careered up an embankment and smashed through a wooden fence.
The driver of the silver Audi A4 caused the accident on the anti-clockwise carriageway near junction 24 at Denton in April.
The vehicle being driven 'dangerously and aggressively' hit speeds of up to 90mph causing other motorists to to swerve and brake heavily.
Ms Chambers had only just discovered she was pregnant with her first child and had the pregnancy test kit box in her bag.
Coroner John Pollard told a Stockport inquest there was no doubt the Audi driver was guilty of causing Ms Chambers death. He recorded a verdict of unlawful killing.
Mr Pollard said: "There is hard evidence it [the Audi] stopped some where on the hard shoulder and drove off again - that makes it worst.
Appalling
"That suggests the driver of the Audi was aware something quite serious had happened but he carried on. He hasn't even had the guts to turn up afterwards and say I was the driver of that car, and that is appalling.
"It was an absolutely ludicrous and ridiculous way to drive. The driver of that Audi killed her just as much as if he had shot or stabbed her."
John Barker, an accounts assistant, was driving a Vauxhall Zafira and told the hearing that the Audi was weaving in and out of traffic shortly before the Focus crashed.
Pc David Woods, from the reconstruction unit, said Ms Chambers' car had no defect that contributed to the accident.
He said her car went into a drain channel by the side of the outside lane, which contributed to the accident.
Mr Pollard said he would write to the highways authority about the drain channel.
Speaking after the hearing Ms Chambers grandmother Enid said: "To the driver of the Audi I would say how can you know what you have done and sleep at night with this on your conscience? Don't be such a coward. Come forward."
The Audi driver was Asian, 35-40 and the first part of the vehicle's registration was LX, which may have been followed by the numbers 06.

its an awful tragedy caused by some idiot...I drive over 1000 miles a week and stick religiously to within the speed limit, that stretch of road is awful in bad weather and the speed limit should be reduced, but i suppose it wouldnt stop morons like this causing such accidents..its a lesson to be learned

I attended the funeral of this young lady and her unborn child. I saw what damage has been done to hundreds of people's lives who attended the funeral.
I was amazed how many people filled that cemetry on that cold day. How so many people loved Nicola and how this one person has ripped her from these people's lives obviously without a second thought.
I only hope the family and friends of Nicola are comforted in some way at how many people did turn up to show their respects to a wonderful person.
To the thing that did this and drove away, come forward and do the honorable thing instead of leaving the family of this young lady living the tragedy day after day after day.
God bless you Nicola and all those who have been devastated by your loss. May your killer be caught soon. R.I.P.

Cars are a lethal weapon, and uninsured drivers should have their car crushed the same day...regardless of the value of the car.
A sad story Rest in Peace

Yep im in total agreement with you, about scrapping uninsured cars the same day.take them out of circulation straightaway the same goes for drivers with no licence.Sorry but most unlicenced/insured drivers run after accidents mainly because they are cowards to face the consequencies of their actions rather than face the damage they have left behind.Give them the same sentence you would if he had shot this girl life/death penalty, this might seem extreme but as soon as you leave a scene of a accident where somebody has been hurt your as guilty as a killer.
