Crash blocks Mancunian Way

AN ACCIDENT on the Mancunian Way caused early morning traffic chaos for drivers today, when a car collided with a crash barrier.

The eastbound carriageway was closed for an hour while emergency services dealt with the incident at the Manchester University exit.

Police said it appeared that the driver had missed the exit, and had swerved, hitting the barrier. The motorist was uninjured, but his vehicle had to be recovered.

It caused chaos. Incompetent drivers who do this sort of thing should be prosecuted - it must cost literally thousands in lost work.

Having said that, the idiot who designed the exit slip from the eastbound down to the back of UMIST wants sacking. The combination of a badly designed road and a poor driver obviously proved too much.

With the traffic in city centre, I wonder why would anyone want to set up their offices there? I would not work for a city centre company.

alvin: I don't work for a city centre company, I pass through from North to South - you know, one of the ones who will be hammered by the totally immoral congestion charge.

BTW: It's my 30th Wedding Anniversary today. We didn't get any cards because the communist bully boy postpersons are on strike!

25 minutes late? Luxury. Try sitting on the M60 between Ashton and Stockport on a bad day - you know, when it drizzles, someone smashes an indicator and they close 2 lanes. 2 hours late has happened to me several times.

Mike: I travel from Chadderton to the airport and have sat on the M60 many a time. I gave up a year ago. I now do City Centre then out along the Parkway. Usually takes me 40 minutes max and is 7 miles less than the motorway. So much for the congestion imagined by the council. I go home on the M60 and frequesntly travel at 70mph - so no probelm there either.
