FORMER Manchester City player Joey Barton appeared before Trafford Magistrates today accused of assaulting a team mate at the club's Carrington training complex.

The 25-year-old, now playing for Newcastle United, was dressed smartly in a blue suit during the brief hearing, which was adjourned until November 22 when Barton will re-appear at Manchester's Minshull Street Crown Court for a plea and case management hearing.

Barton, is charged with section 47 assault on Ousmane Dabo.
