A BOY of 11 is in hospital with serious head injuries after his quad bike collided with a lamppost.

The accident happened on Moss Lane in Walkden last night .

The boy was taken to Hope Hospital where a scan revealed he had fractured his skull and sustained other head injuries but it was not known whether they are life-threatening.

He was due to be transferred to Royal Manchester Children's Hospital in Pendlebury today.
