TRIBUTES have been paid to a student found dead outside a block of flats.
Detectives launched a murder inquiry after the body of David Brown, 24, was found in a garden on Chorlton Road, Hulme, on Friday.
He lived in the street where he died, but originally came from Burnley.
A Home Office post mortem examination has confirmed he died as a result of a stab wound to his left leg.
His family said today: “David was a fun-loving son, who enjoyed life to the full.
“Although he was a quiet person, he had lots of friends.
“He had aspired to go and live in Spain to teach English, and had just enrolled to learn Spanish so he could achieve his dream.
“We are devastated about what has happened and will miss him more than we can say.”
Detectives are continuing to investigate David’s death and have launched an appeal for witnesses.
His body was discovered just after 7.30am. Police cordoned off the scene and forensic officers examined the area.
A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said officers from the Major Incident Team are following a number of lines of inquiry.
Anyone with information should call Longsight CID on 0161 856 4343 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.

I am not a forgiving person and I will never forgive the pure sum who have done this to a genuine nice man.
David never made any enemies, he was a quiet thoughtful person who wanted to help others.
I just have one wish in my life now, that I could come face-to-face with his murderer(s)
I cannot come to terms that my son was stabbed and left to die all alone bleeding the death, scared!

David you were so precious to me. I was proud to have you as my son.
You lit up my life.
You worked so hard to achieve your dreams & ambitions, just starting a new chapter in your life.
Now your life has been cruelly snuffed out by some as yet, face less monster.
HE MUST BE FOUND AND MADE TO PAY.
The days go by, the sun shines, it has no right! The sunshine has been taken away from my life.
I hope there is a heaven & you are happy there.
One day I will follow i your footsteps & be with you again.
Till then - God bless you.
All my love
Forever
Mum X

Davids life has been cruelly & ruthlessly taken away.
He walked home after a night out to save some moneytowards his dream of moving to Spain.
If only he hadn't bought his last drink & used this money for a taxi home.
It should be safe to walk on the street.
Sadly it isn't.
Protect yourself, protect your family.
Do not put yourself in the same vunerable position as my David did, walking home in the dark.
I'm left to greave for my son.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE
let there be no more.
Davids mum
