A NEW crackdown on yob culture was being launched today.
Stretford and Urmston MP Beverley Hughes was in the area to unveil the Respect Action Week programme, aimed at tackling anti-social behaviour.
She was due to help crush an off-road bike which has been seized as part of the official launch.
The new scheme - revealed earlier this week in the M.E.N. - sees the council, police, trading standards, youth offending teams and other agencies combine to tackle problem areas in a seven-day blitz.
As reported in the M.E.N, pilot projects in four areas have seen dramatic improvements, with house burglaries slashed by 60 per cent in Ancoats and Clayton for instance.
Today the scheme was officially being rolled out to 15 other wards in Manchester. Ms Hughes said: "This is a great initiative which has already achieved good results in tackling crime and anti-social behaviour in our communities."

ms hughes do the job you are paid to do - represent and fight against these closures which affect the residents of your constituency, rather than cheap publicity stunts.

Lots of iniatives have been proven to work, but have then been discontinued for no apparent reason. People need consistency, so do kids.
