THE future is certainly bright for baby Katie-Lee Webster. In fact it could be said the future is orange. Katie, is only ten weeks old, but she is already sporting a full head of red hair.
She has such a mass of hair on her head that passers-by regularly ask mum and dad, Steph Pleasance and Danny Webster, if she is wearing a wig.
Danny said: "Her hair is of unique colouration.
"Myself and her mum are forever being stopped in the street and asked `is that a wig?' or questions of the like."
Katie-Lee is Danny and Steph's first child.
And the couple, of Cottingham Drive, Ashton, reckon she could be Britain's hairiest baby.
Steph, who was bald when she was born, said: "She had hair when she was born, lots of it. I was quite surprised when I compared it to all the others in the hospital.
"People will come up to me if I'm in a shop and they say they've seen her from the other side of the shop and had to come over to see her.
"The midwife asked was it a wig.

"Most people say when they see a baby `isn't she cute'. When people see her they say `look at her hair'."
It's the first grandchild for granddad John Webster.
Shocked
He said: "It shocked me the first time I saw her.
"I went up to the hospital when I came out of work and looked at her and said, blimey look at that hair."
Steph has already bought hair clips to style her daughter's crop and has no intention of cutting it.
She added: "The hairdresser I go to said to me it won't be long before she's doing Katie-Lee's hair
Katie is not the first baby to feature in the M.E.N for sporting an unusual crop of hair.
In March we revealed how Eden Lurie's spiky hair proved too much when her mum took her for a passport photograph.
The photographic assistant said the four-month-old's crowning glory was too long and didn't meet strict rules - so she gave the tot a `digital haircut' on a computer.

Rimsky and Pete, these are PEOPLE stories!! Newspapers do this! And to be honest, given Katie-Lee's rare hair, it is seen as a light hearted topic that many people would like to read about. It makes a change than from reading all the doom and gloom that keeps happening in the world, and all the political changes that dominate the headlines. Just like the "and finally" section ITN used to have on the old 10pm news. And to be honest, I'd rather see a story about a normal person than the latest celebrity goings on taking up the same page spread. Its a nice change - if you don't like it, don't read it, you have the choice!

Bless her. How cute is she? Her hair is fab. I've heard all the 'ginger nut' comments that can ever be made. Katie-Lee you're gorgeous and so is your hair. You'll be proud of it when you're older. She doesnt look unhappy about it now. She's probably scowling at the comments on here.
What dull people some of you posters are! So this story will not affect the footsie, bring world peace or save the planet. So what! The child is beautiful with unusual hair. As for looking 'sad', that is plain silly.

Fair enough,i've looked at the other pictures and she doesn't look unhappy.

If she looks unhappy its because the pics were taken at about 7pm when a lot of 10 week old babies are asleep, we had to keep her awake (not to hide the fact she is already a diva!). When she is older i thought it would be nice for to her to have had 10 seconds in the limelight that is all, but i do want to thank those people who posted positive comments im really grateful (im sure katie is too!), i will print those out to give her when she is looking back on this. thanks guys!!

this article shows what a sick society this poor little darling will have to grow up in. what when grown men can mock and snigger at a ten week old baby in a regional paper just to get their kicks for the day, yes she will be growing up in a world of utter prats.
try and ignore them katie-lee, they obviously have issues about themselves but rather than face upto them like real adults do they choose to bully and mock others around them. you'll get used to them in time darling and be safe in the knowledge that your already loved more than they ever were and by the looks of it, a lot more mature too.

I was also born with lots of red hair (I had so much that my Mum felt the need to cut it when I was a few days old) so Katie-Lee’s not the only one out there! I didn’t appreciate it when I was a kid but I’m ok with it now because it’s a bit more interesting than mousy coloured hair and it’s got plenty of body which is good. I hope Katie-Lee learns to appreciate her hair, it can sometimes be a hassle being a redhead but anyone who feels the need to make disparaging comments about someone’s hair colour is pretty ignorant and not worth bothering with anyway!
