Guests arrive for Diana memorial

Sir Cliff Richard
SINGER Sir Cliff Richard was among the first to arrive for today's memorial service.

Wearing a dark blue blazer and pale blue shirt, he waved to waiting photographers before entering the Guards' Chapel at London's Wellington Barracks.

Raine Spencer, Diana's stepmother, also arrived early, walking alone into the chapel.

More than 500 people were expected to attend today's service which was due to start at noon.

Diana's former driver, Simon Solari, arrived shortly after 10.30am.

He was followed by Lord Attenborough and Sir David Frost, both friends of Diana's, and then photographer Mario Testino.

Around 10 minutes later, Princess Margaret's former husband Lord Snowdon arrived.

Earl Spencer, Diana's brother, arrived shortly before 11am.

Wearing a dark-coloured suit, he walked into the chapel before walking out again seconds later with four of his children and his nephew, George McCorquodale, son of Diana's sister, Lady Sarah McCorquodale.

The group then walked away from the chapel together.

They were quickly followed by Sir Richard Branson, wearing a purple shirt, who stopped to smile at the gathering crowds before walking inside.

Diana's close friend, Rosa Monckton, also arrived for the service. She was accompanied by her young daughter, Domenica, who is Diana's goddaughter.

Who actually cares about this? I'm sick to death of the media bleating on about the amazing woman she was, the outrage and the tragedy, the inquiries, the documentaries etc etc etc. I swear, if they decide to re-release "Candle in the Wind"...

Leep - I totally agree with you. She has been dead for 10 years now people just need get over it!! My husband and I are sick to the back teeth of hearing about her on the radio and TV. No one else has had this much media attention.

Elvis is still getting plenty of column inches written about him 30 years after his death, so I'm sure we've plenty more or these stories for years to come.
