THE family of Jaden Sellars will have no trouble remembering his birthday - they just need to think of the numbers eight and nine.

Little Jaden was born at 9.08pm on the ninth day of the eighth month weighing in at 9lb 8oz.

But mum Amy Green, 18, who spent 26 hours in labour, did not notice the coincidence at first.

She said: "I was pretty spaced out after the long labour and when he was born, I was just glad he was okay.

"But then my mum and all the midwives started to comment on all the eights and nines and I realised what a coincidence it was.

"I'm glad he wasn't really late because I'm only a size six to eight and I don't know how I would have coped with a really big baby."

Superstitious

Jaden arrived two days before his due date of August 11 at Stepping Hill Hospital. Superstitious Amy, from Hazel Grove, said she knew something was in the air when she kept spotting magpies in the garden before going into labour.

She said: "There were hundreds of them around. There were lots of groups of two - which I know means `joy' according to the rhyme - so I was pretty confident that me and the baby would be alright."

Amy and her boyfriend Lee Sellars, 19, said Jaden has been `a little angel'.

Jaden's great-grandmother Diane Brimble said she is very proud of her first great-grandchild, and of Amy.

Diane, 62, said: "Amy's only young but she's doing a phenomenal job, and wants to do everything by the book. We are quite a young family, I suppose. My daughter Wendy, Amy's mum, is a grandmother at 42.

"I know that the number eight is meant to bring luck according to Chinese culture and I am sure Jaden will be a very lucky little boy. He's beautiful."
