Clarkson the English cob has been alerting Manchester drivers to the fact the city is the second-biggest carbon dioxide producer after London.
For the past three days he has been offering commuters a chance to reduce their carbon footprint to a hoof print by riding his cart to work.
His 19th century carriage has been updated by organic yoghurt makers Stony, with solar power, a laptop socket and a stereo system.
I hailed 15-year-old Clarkson - named after Jeremy - at Moston station for a trot to the M.E.N. offices off Deansgate.
Despite an average speed of seven miles an hour, there was nothing but good humour from other commuters.
Owner Nicky Willis said: "We have lived in Brixton, so nothing frightens him. Manchester drivers are more considerate than London drivers, so he is quite enjoying himself up here."

I do hope he's allowed to use the bus lanes - they're normally traffic free in the rush hour
If I'd read it properly - of course he went in the empty bus lanes !!!!!! Great idea, and his "exhaust fumes" can be recycled......
Most of this horse's emmissions will be methane (a much higher 'Global Warming Potential' than CO2) so if we all switched to horses and abandoned our cars tomorrow the situation will be much graver regarding future warming levels....let's stick to our clean & efficient cars eh?
Saw the Stony cart and think it's a great idea. There should be a fleet of horse and carts around Manchester that can use the bus lanes.
Good God, people really are trying to drag us back to the middle ages. Imagine how laughable this would be to our fellow western nations if we had fleets of this sort roaming around the streets. Imagine the dreadful smell & mess too!
Black Sabbath
You mean like when we get people murdered and the killers get out of prison after a couple of years ? and other countries laugh at us.......
Imagine?. In Italy Florence and rome there are loads of them. Obviously not in venice though
