A MAN is in a critical condition in hospital in Salford after being stabbed and slashed with a knife.
The victim, 55, was injured in a disturbance in the early hours of Saturday July 28 on Edgehill Close in Pendleton.
He was taken to Hope Hospital with injuries including a knife slash to his face and a stab wound to his back. His condition has since deteriorated and he is now critical.
Det Insp Joanne Rawlinson from Salford CID said: "I know that there were plenty of people who were at the scene of this incident and who must have seen what happened. Now is not the time for misplaced loyalty.
"A man is fighting for his life in hospital and we need to find out who is responsible.
"I understand that some people may be scared to come forward and speak to police, but I want to stress that you can do so in absolute confidence.
"Please do not be afraid to pick up the phone and call the office. You can talk to one of my team privately and any information you give to us will be treated as confidential."
A 26-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assault and a 23-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. Both men are from Salford and have been bailed pending further inquiries.
