More than 100 people went along to the field to try out `sphering', which involves being harnessed inside a two-metre inflatable clear plastic ball and rolling down a steep incline.
The event, held at Heaton House Farm near Macclesfield, marked the official launch of Sphere Mania's south Manchester site.
As it bounced down the hillside the ball reached speeds of up to 20 miles an hour.
The ball's designer Robert Price said: "A fantastic time was enjoyed by everyone who came along, even though there was a slight breeze blowing up the slope which meant the sphere never managed to get up to its maximum speed of 25mph.
"I decided to start manufacturing the spheres around nine years ago after visiting Canada and seeing something similar taking place there.
"It really is great fun and perfectly safe.
"And all the profits we make from our company called Sphere Mania will be donated to help support missionary work in Africa."

Why is it that we have so many charities all bent on sending millions upon millions to africa when we have a really bad poverty/problems in britain? weve had live aid sent billions and all the other massive charities who also send millions each year? its not money these people want? its their governments who want to be sorted out? africa has a massive wealth held by a few africa has more wealth than most countries.its time to force these people to help their own people, because while we are sending millions into this country their own government/people wont part with anything????????
