THE national terror threat level has been raised to critical, its highest level, Home Secretary Jacqui Smith said tonight.
The level means an attack is expected "imminently".
It has been raised as a response to the events of the last 48 hours, which have seen a blazing car smash into Glasgow airport and the planting of two car bombs which failed to detonate in the heart of London.
The Joint Terrorism Analysis Centre (JTAC) raised the level and appropriate security measures have been put in place, Ms Smith said.
In further developments, reports indicate that Blackpool airport is being searched by armed police.
What do you think? Have your say.

Isn't it time to introduce internment for anyone who might be involved? It worked a treat in Northern Ireland (remember, before Tony Blair sorted it asll out).
If we can't trust these people to behave, then we must lock them up. Margaret Thatcher would have had this lot under control years ago. Bring her back from retirement I say.
