But he plans to blow the final whistle on his model making hobby when he completes a new version of the Theatre of Dreams using 80,000 matches.
Five years ago he created a replica of the Old Trafford ground made up of 67,000 matches.
Since then the north west and north east corners of the stadium have been extended and he's been itching to build a new one.
The 42-year-old security guard, from Handforth, Cheshire, started work on the model in May and expects to complete it by August.
It will be four feet by three feet wide and about two-feet high and will have executive boxes, stands and a players' tunnel. It will be sold to raise money for the charity Unicef.
Paul, a father-of-two, said: "I've used just over 40,000 matchsticks so far and I'm working on it every hour I get.
"It's a painstaking task but it's also very relaxing.
"After the last model, which took nine months, I thought never again. I'm doing it a lot quicker this time because I know what I'm doing."
The cost of the £600 building work is being met by his employer Advance Security UK Ltd. To ensure the model looks authentic Paul is appealing for sponsors whose name will appear on the advertising hoardings around the pitch.
His last model was signed by the United squad and then auctioned for Francis House Children's Hospice in Didsbury. It was bought by former United chief executive Peter Kenyon.
