GARY NEVILLE finally managed a smile at his own match of the day.
The Manchester United star had been glum - snapping at photographers - earlier in the week when he attended a rehearsal for his wedding.
But he flashed a broad and genuine grin when he tied the knot with Emma Hadfield and walked into late afternoon sunshine down the steps of Manchester Cathedral today.
A crowd of about a thousand onlookers - some of whom had waited for three hours to see the newly wed couple emerge cheered as they climbed into a silver Rolls Royce.
And three of the wedding guests got just as a noisy a reception. Ryan Giggs - newly made an OBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours - and fellow United team mates Wayne Rooney and Paul Scholes all triggered loud applause and chanting.
The bride, as is her right was late for the 3pm fixture - arriving at 3.15pm.

A red carpet was laid down for her to walk into church as a small army of security guards held back the crowd.
But despite the back up of police community support officers they could not stop onlookers wanting pictures for their mobile phones from rushing into the road outside the Cathedral once the 45 minute wedding was over.
Traffic both in and out of Manchester city centre was brought to a standstill and a police helicopter circled the scene.
Rooney was accompanied by his girlfriend Coleen McLoughlin and another celebrity guest was former United star Nicky Butt, who is now with Birmingham, but played in the same youth team as Neville.
Gary's best man was his brother, ex United and current Everton star, Phil.
But a notable absentee from the wedding was Victoria Beckham. However her husband, England star, David, best friend of Gary, was due to make an appearance at the reception - via a video link.
Becks could not make Gary and Emma's big day as he was preparing for Real Madrid's game with Majorca tomorrow, which could see Real clinch the league title.
