The United star scowled and snapped at an MEN photographer who pictured him going to a marriage rehearsal at Manchester Cathedral with fiancée Emma Hadfield earlier this week.
But he put on his best smile when he attended a promotional photo-shoot to plug new business seats on transatlantic flights for American Airlines.
Gary, 32, and his brother Phil - who is best man at the ceremony this afternoon, both went to Manchester Airport and posed for pictures in the seats inside a 40ft truck set up in the car park.
The pictures were released yesterday, coinciding with massive media interest in Gary's wedding.
But PR experts said the timing of the publicity stunt was `bizarre' and echoed the famous gaffe by Anthea Turner and Grant Bovey, who plugged a chocolate bar on their wedding day in 2000.
Manchester PR chief Paul Carroll said: "I can't understand why he is plugging this airline now.
"It is fraught with danger because of the Anthea Turner incident, which is a classic in terms of PR disasters.
"This is just ill-conceived and ill-thought through." A spokesman for American Airlines said Gary and Phil had been asked to pose for pictures on the seats because they are frequent fliers with the airline. She said: "We were delighted they could come along because they were very busy with the wedding arrangements." Tweet

It does say "News" at the top of the page, this article most certainly is not...
I suspect the writer (Paul Gallagher) missed out on a wedding invite..
I dont think he is "plugging the airline now"..Nor is it comparable to Anthea Turner eating chocolate on her wedding day...The pictures have been released now..So what..The shame is that you have 2 England Players, and that B.A. never thought of it first.
He could not be to do with MONEY surely not
What a nasty little article!
The captain of Manchester United is a true local hero, who along with his colleagues, has done much to put the city of Manchester on the worldwide map - yet you seek to demean him on his "special" day.
And for exactly what??
Not smiling at your "nice & polite" paparazzi cameramen and also for promoting Manchester Airport & airline businesses who create jobs there?? OMG Gary what have you done - shouldn't you have been promoting Liverpool Airport instead??
Maybe if Gary Neville were a talentless, limelight seeking "media nobody" with a London PR firm behind him - the MEN would be singing his praises for err shopping or something??
I honestly don't know what's going on at the MEN these days - it's as if our local newspaper is now being written & edited down in London!
Anyway, good luck Gary on your special day!
This is absolutely nothing like the Anthea Turner incident, and to compare it to such is pathetic. I guess Gary muts have annoyed someone at the MEN somewhere along the line.....
