A MAN died and two others were seriously injured when a car veered out of control and ploughed into a tree.
Craig Franklin, 23, of Sycamore Avenue, Chadderton, sustained head injuries which later proved fatal following the accident on Broadway, Oldham.
Two other men, who were also in the car, both aged in their early 20s, were seriously injured. One suffered a broken back and the other a serious head injury.
A fourth man also travelling in the car was not injured.
Police said the accident happened on Saturday evening when the Volkswagen Golf went off the road on Broadway, near Oldham Athletic’s football ground. The car hit a bus shelter, then a lamp post, before hitting the tree.
Greater Manchester Police are appealing for anyone who saw the accident, or who has information which could help them, to telephone 0161 856 8473.

Such a tragic tragic accident. I've known Craig through my sister and her friends since they were young kids and this has come as a great shock to everyone in the neighbourhood where he grew up.
Craig should be here enjoying his new home with his girlfriend and young daughter.
My heartfelt condolences go out to all of the Franklin Family and to Craig's girlfriend and little girl.
R.I.P Craig

You touched my life and I will never forget you Craig. RIP
A laugh and a joke whenever we met,
Those are the times we will never forget;
Always ready to do his best,
With a heart so true and tender;
He devoted his life to those he loved,
And those he loved remember.
"The best mate a guy could have. We will never forget your cheeky smile."
