MORE than 70 firefighters were last night tackling a huge moorland fire near Bolton.
The crews were called to Belmont at 4pm. They were expected to work through the night protecting woods and nearby buildings.
A spokesman said the fire was difficult to contain because the moor was so dry. Firefighters from Greater Manchester and Lancashire were involved.
No one was reported to have been injured.
