TESCO has been voted the most trusted food retailer brand in survey results published today.
The supermarket was top for the seventh year running in the food retailer category of the poll, Britain's Most Trusted Brands 2007, conducted by Reader's Digest.
The study asked 1,900 British Reader's Digest customers which brands they trusted the most across 38 different product categories.
The results come after Tesco earlier this month underlined its dominance of the UK's retail landscape when it announced record profits of £2.55 billion.
The company, which has 1,500 stores in the UK, grew underlying profits by more than 13% for the year to February 24, despite increasing competition from resurgent rivals Asda and Sainsbury's.
But Tesco's massive profits haul have also sparked criticism from groups representing small businesses and environmentalists concerned over the chain"s prominence and the apparent creation of "Tesco towns".

They have no more respect for personal privacy than the government.
Still, at least I can choose not to shop at Tesco.
