Mikael's fancy footwork

STEPPING OUT IN STYLE: Mikael Silvestre supporting the school fancy sock day with his daughters Evy and Cleo
MANCHESTER United star Mikael Silvestre had pupils putting their best feet forward to raise cash for deprived children.

Pupils at Alderley Edge School for Girls were allowed to wear multi-coloured socks for a £1 donation to an international charity backed by Mikael.

French international Mikael, whose two daughters Evy, six, and Cleo, three, attend the independent school, told pupils about the work of the Schools of Hope charity.

The charity works with other agencies to help street children living in different African states. It supports school-building projects and funds reading and writing lessons.

Mikael said: "In the summer I am visiting the school the charity has helped to build. I will see how these children are gaining an education."

The star has already donated £35,000 to enable 25 orphaned children study for two years and hopes more centres can open.
