A 16-YEAR-OLD boy and his pals were supplied with 16 cans of lager and two bottles of cider by the boy's mother, police say.
Officers in Warrington seized the alcohol from the children in Great Sankey and warned the mother and other parents tempted to supply children with alcohol they face on-the-spot fines or even prison if they buy alcohol for underage drinkers.
Police Community Support Officer Dave Brownlee said: "It is shocking to think that parents are supplying their children with alcohol when it is blatantly against the law."
Jane Knight, from Warrington Primary Care Trust, said 93 under-18s in Warrington had to be admitted to hospital due to intoxication last year.
"Experimental drinking is particularly harmful as a young body cannot tolerate large quantities of alcohol," she said.

Alcohol and it's consumption has become demonised in some areas of the media and establishment, we even have some characters seriously suggesting that it should be 21 now! Can i ask for a little common sense people, please!

There is no age limit, either for drinking alcohol or smoking tobacco. The act of buying or the selling of is what is illegal.

This issue has just hit the national headlines today, and i'm pleased to see that most comments are opposed to the "nannying" attitude coming from certain corners. Having legislation on this (or anything else for that matter) automatically implies that the people are not capable of making their own decisions, when what we really need to promote is the opposite: more self-determination and self-control. Mistrust the people and they become untrustworthy.
