A MAN was trapped in his car after he was in a collision with two lorries on the M62 near Warrington.

The car was crushed after the smash but the man was thought to be conscious and breathing.However the air ambulance was on standby to rescue the man.

The crash brought the eastbound carriageway of the motorway to a standstill during the morning rush hour and police were also considering closing the westbound carriageway between junctions eight and nine so the air ambulance could land there.
