WELCOME to the all new website for the Manchester Evening News. It’s brighter and it’s easier to navigate - but it’s still got all your favourite features.
We’ve been working away behind the scenes to make your time spent at the essential news and information site for Greater Manchester even better.
Your feedback on the previous site has been invaluable and we have incorporated many of your suggestions;
- Our search facility at the top right hand side of each page is now super fast and guides you to find exactly what you're looking for.
- We’ve improved our registration process. It now takes just a minute to add your details for the first time and then you’ll be able to sign up for one of our fantastic newsletters, post comments on all the hot topics of the day and soon you'll be able to create your very own profile page.
- The navigation of the site has been completely overhauled to allow you to get to the information you need more quickly. So whether it’s what’s on in the city or what’s happening down at City you should get what you’re looking for more easily.
- You can see what other users have been reading – and what they have been saying - about the big issues of the day with our “most read” and “most commented” pages on the right-hand side of every page.
- Your favourite Postbag, In Touch and Family Notices now have their own dedicated area in the Community section of the site.
- The latest video news reports and the lunch time bulletins from the M.E.N newsroom have been given a new look.
- We’ve also created a new Lifestyle section where our expert writers will bring you up to date with all the latest developments in the world of personal finance, health and fashion and travel.
But we won’t be stopping there. The improvements to the M.E.N site will continue so tell us what you think of the site improvements by submitting your comments below.
If you have any queries, technical problems or just can’t find what you are looking for, then please contact us at sitefeedback@men-news.co.uk and we’ll do our best to sort the problem.

Also do not like this registration thing... many people wont bother registering and we will end up with less comments.

Your old site was so busy with pop-ups and adverts as to be almost unusable. This is much cleaner and easier to navigate. Keep up the good work.

Grr...
Oh, I suggest that people DON'T use their email addresses as their usernames as there are dedicated programmes thats spammers use to trawl website forums, harvest email addresses then- you guessed it, spam them.
Otherwise, keep up the (increasingly) good work!
cheers

We don't ever display your username around the site only your nickname. So spammers won't be able to harvest your email address from us. We suggest using your email address because it's unique and easy to remember as many other sites will use it for your login.

All those sections are on our sister site in the Mancuncian section www.manchesteronline.co.uk/mancunian
That said our webcam has been out of action as the building it was in is soon to be demolished. Likewise GMPTE's is down as they are moving offices.

The video advertisements are very annoying. I am trying to read an article and there is constant motion in my periphial vision. I know you have to generate revenue and i should not whinge but put them on the left side of the browser window then I could move my browser over to the left and hide them. Or how about letting the users specify an ad free version, that would be novel.
On the plus side it is better looking and very professional.
Sorry to be so negative but you still have work to do, and i do know how hard it is to please everyone.

Anyway, great job. And for what it's worth, I haven't met anyone who dislikes the newspaper's current format. As far as I'm concerned it looks great!
