Mr Miliband is in pole position to be name the next party leader. But he faces stiff competition from a short-list that includes his brother, Ed, as well as Leigh MP Andy Burnham, former education secretary Ed Balls and left-winger Diane Abbott.
Mr Miliband has won the support of a number of high-profile colleagues in Greater Manchester - including Gerald Kaufman, Ivan Lewis, Graham Stringer, Ann Coffey, Simon Danczuk and Yasmin Qureshi.
Mr Miliband, who has been tipped as a future party leader for years, has declared 'new Labour' dead and says his wants to build 'next Labour'.
He has claimed Labour lost 'focus' on key issues like education and anti-social behaviour.
Mr Miliband is a keen advocate of new technology in politics, regularly using Twitter and running his own blog while at the foreign office.

Personally,I would go for Ed Balls as I would love Labour to be led by a Boy Named Sue (sorry,Ed Balls) My old mate Mike Harding,remember him,he used to refer to someone who was a bit,er,slow, as a Head the Ball!!
