FAITH schools, including Muslim schools, will be made to offer at least a quarter of classroom places to non-believers.

Education Secretary Alan Johnson is expected to announce the measure this week to tackle growing religious tensions.

The Church of England has already announced it will set aside a quarter of places for people outside the Church.But forcing Catholic, Jewish and Muslim schools to do the same is likely to be controversial.

The plans, leaked in a letter to a Sunday newspaper , sets out table amendments to the Education and Inspection Bill, currently going through parliament.
