Schools 'should learn Harry Potter lesson'

SCHOOLS were urged today to learn lessons from Harry Potter to help improve discipline.

The Liberal Democrats want more headteachers to bring in the "house" system used at the Hogwarts School in JK Rowling's books.

Lib Dem education spokesman Edward Davey said the system used in many independent schools gave pupils a sense of belonging.

"With the fierce debate about discipline in Britain's schools, perhaps the most important lesson from Hogwarts is its traditional house system, where the students mix with different age groups, gain a sense of community and benefit from old-fashioned pastoral care," he said.

Mr Davey said the system alone would not end discipline problems. Disruptive children also had to be removed from the classroom, he said.

Doesn't seemed to have done Harry any good - al he does is disobey his teachers - lead his classmates into grave danger and without giving away the end of the latest book cause absolute chaos and destruction. Maybe the Lib Dems should go back to school and learn how to read before they enter into politics.
