GCSEs were on the menu when pupils from Levenshulme High School for Girls spent the evening at the Sanam restaurant.
The schoolgirls attended the restaurant, on Wilmslow Road, Rusholme, for a revision supper. But the food was served up only after the teenagers had spent a couple of hours studying their exam subjects.
Their night was part of Manchester City Council's Food 4 Thought education programme. It aims to help the youngsters study in a relaxed and thought-provoking atmosphere. The programme was carried out for the first time last year. Its success prompted education chiefs to hold it again.
With GCSEs looming in many teenagers' diaries, Food 4 Thought links the Year 11 pupils with students from the city's universities to help the schoolchildren learn more about their subjects and pick up tips on revision and exam techniques.
A council spokesman said: "The idea is to provide tutoring and mentoring from university students so the youngsters are given help and support by a group of older, academically strong, peers."
