Trafford's A-level students among best in the country

Students in Trafford are ranked among the top in the country for their A-level results.

The average number of pupils gaining A* grades increased to 11.5 per cent - beating the national average of 8.2 per cent.

Meanwhile, the average for A and A* grades remained at 37 per cent this year - 10 per cent higher than the national average, while 99.2 per cent got A* to E grades.

Education councillor John Holden said "Trafford schools provide first rate opportunities for students to develop, prosper and reach their individual potential."

The figures for the A* and A grades are based on eight out of 10 schools while the figures for A* to E grades were based on nine out of 10 schools.

One school has not yet supplied its results to the council while another has not given a breakdown of the grades.
